Back Porch

The back porch on the house was nearly as big a worry as the front one. Originally, an open porch, about eight-feet deep extended off the back of the house behind the kitchen and living room with storage rooms enclosed on each end.

The owners before us, the Morrison's, lived in the house for over 40 years and enclosed the porch and built a stone wall around the well.  The enclosure of the porch was falling down and the wishing well took up about a quarter of the floor space.

We ended up tearing off the back wall....

....building a deck in its place....

....and enclosing the original porch with windows/screens.

Inside, we removed the stone walls that surrounded the well and put a flat hatch over the opening.

Much more useful space!
